Tambuwal’s counsel, Lateef Flagbemi, who led 68 other lawyers to the trial, commended that the court was set to reconsider the removal of security details from the Speaker, noting that it was a serious matter as the case involved the fourth citizen of the country.
Meanwhile, a counsel of the PDP, Unus Ustaz Usman, argued that the court had no jurisdiction to entertain the case, urging to decay the suit.

He said: “We have also filed response to the suit of the plaintiff that he should not be the speaker or in the house.”
The court said that IGP Abba erred in law by withdrawing the security details of the Speaker when he has not been removed from office.
The IGP had, while returning Tambuwal’s security, protected the action through a statement by the Force Public Relation Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, saying that the security personnel attached to the Speaker were withdrawn because of Tambuwal’s defection from the party that elected him the Speaker.
He quoted the violation section 68 (1) g of the 1999 constitution as the basis for his action.

It would be recalled among other infarctions against his office after decamping to APC from the ruling party. He also asked the court to stop PDP lawmakers from impeaching him.
The Speaker had on Tuesday, October 28, officially but failed to resign as the Speaker of the House.
