Amosun’s Convoy in Auto Crash

The convoy of Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, was sunday involved in an accident, leaving his aides with injuries.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the incident occurred at Saapade-Ogeere Road, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, at 9.30a.m, when a commercial bus rammed into the   governor’s convoy, damaging one of the Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) in the convoy.
The governor s whowever unhurt, but two of his aides were reportedly injured, while some occupants of the blue Mistubishi bus carrying foodstuff also sustained injuries.

It was gathered that the governor’s convoy was heading towards Ibadan, while the bus was coming from the opposite direction before they had a head-on collision.
The accident occurred at a spot where construction works are going on, forcing motorists to use only two of the four-lane road.
The driver of the commercial bus reportedly lost control when he faced the governor’s convoy on the narrow  road  and rammed into the convoy.
According to eyewitnesses, the occupants of the commercial bus,  mainly women and children, sustained injuries.
The source said immediately the accident occurred, the governor alighted from his  vehicle to sympathise with victims.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Yusuph Olaniyonu, said no life was lost. The commissioner, who said he was part of the governor’s entourage, denied that people sustained injuries.

He said the accident involved one commercial bus which reportedly rammed into the governor’s convoy.
He said:  “It was just a minor accident, no one sustained injuries. We are going to Ekiti, only one jeep was affected and we have transferred the occupants to our own bus.”
