FG Plans To Assassinate Tambuwal - Nasir El-Rufai
Former minister of Federal Capital Territory and Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has reacted strongly to the removal of the security details attached to Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.
Recent withdrawal of Aminu Tambuwal’s security details by the Federal Government was regarded as an immediate threat to the Speaker’s life and health. The former minister even accused President Goodluck Jonathan of planning to eliminate Tambuwal with sniper-assasins “purportedly groomed by the President”.
It would be recalled that the security aids of the Speaker have been removed two days after Mr. Tambuwal formally declared his defection from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to All Progressives Congress APC. El-Rufai expressed his assumtion to newsmen after picking his expression of interest and nomination forms as the APC governorship aspirant in Kaduna State on Friday.
He insisted that the Speaker was one of the targets of the killer squad, declaring, “that was why the Inspector-General of Police on the order of President Jonathan withdrew the Speaker security aides.” The former minister also reminded the Jonathan government that impunity had limitations, saying that the Nigeria government should learn from Burkina Faso, when the people were fed up with the government.
He also called for unity among party members and assured the people of his support to whoever emerged as the party’s flag bearer. El-Rufai said the state needed salvation from long years of misrule and assured that the APC would offer credible and people-oriented leadership.
