Jonathan picks November 11 for re-election declaration

Barring any last minute change in plan, President Goodluck Jonathan will formally declare his intention to seek re-election during the 2015 general elections on November 11.

Members of the the Presidential Declaration Committee led by Dr. Haliru Bello, arrived at the date at their inaugural meeting held inside the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday.

Jonathan had, while informing the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party of his decision to contest the election on Thursday, set up the committee to come up with modalities for his declaration.

He had asked the committee to choose a date between November 7 and 15 for him to make his formal declaration.

Bello told State House correspondents at the end of the meeting on Friday that the committee members had settled for November 11.
